Energy and Environment in the Americas: an online discussion

The Inter-American Forum on Governance is an interactive online space to discuss key issues on the hemispheric agenda. Past discussions included Strengthening and Sustaining Democratic Institutions; Multidimensional Security: Haiti and a Common Strategy for the Future and on Wednesday, November 28, the focus will be Integral Development: Energy and the Environment. Register, participate, it will be interesting.

Here is a taste of what’s to come:

When it came to the relations between the US and the rest of the Americas, President Barrack Obama campaigned on the promise that he would herald a new era of understanding. He singled out energy security and climate change as issues where there were shared risks but he also stressed that the region shared the resources to do something about those issues. He promised to bring countries together in a new partnership to address these challenges. Clearly he had the best intentions. What he didn’t count on, however, was not having any funds to dedicate to any such initiative nor that his attention would be drawn elsewhere. Read more…
